"I was 12 when I started my FIRST complicated, orthodontic treatment due to crowding & an overbite. After 2 years of wearing the traditional, unsightly, uncomfortable, orthodontic wires & brackets & a night time head gear, the results were impressive for awhile. However, my teeth began to shift & were no longer straight. After 50+ years, I decided to have my complex orthodontic issues addressed AGAIN. This time, the evolution of orthodontics enabled me to opt for an Invisalign® treatment, which utilized custom aligners. Over the course of a year, my teeth gently & gradually shifted into proper place. My teeth-straightening process ended w/high tech x-rays that encircled my head & took cutting edge pictures of my teeth & mouth. To preserve the exceptional results of my once again straight teeth, retention treatment consists of a removable upper retainer & a discreet, fixed lower retainer. I am grateful for the evolution of orthodontics for many reasons! One, I removed the clear trays when I wanted. Two, there were NO food restrictions. I ate whatever foods I enjoyed. Three, I enjoyed virtually invisible teeth-straightening. Four, I brushed & flossed my teeth normally & maintained healthy periodontal tissue. Five, the evolution of orthodontics allowed for treatment while traveling. When I advised the office I was traveling, they provided me w/extra trays... during the course of my Invisalign® treatment, I traveled 17K miles through 15 states. Finally, my smile w/STRAIGHT, ALIGNED teeth increased my face value, my positive self-image, & my confidence. I once again have that 'million dollar' smile. "50+ years ago, I desperately needed braces due to crowding & an overbite. The end results were impressive; however over the years, my teeth began to move. I wanted a straighter smile & my orthodontic issues addressed.The evolution of orthodontics is remarkable. I was told Invisalign® can address many of those issues w/exceptional results w/o the discomfort or embarrassment of traditional orthodontic braces. I was delighted to learn I would NOT be getting unsightly, uncomfortable wires & brackets but instead discrete, clear aligners. My teeth-straightening process started w/high tech x-rays that encircled my head & state of the art pictures of my teeth & mouth. NO goopy impressions of my teeth were needed. All of that information was used to create a treatment plan w/o the orthodontist ever touching my mouth! I was told I would be given a series of custom aligners that I would change about every two weeks. Over time, my teeth would gently & gradually shift into proper place.My insurance provider does NOT cover braces, but I was offered a 10% discount if I paid the full amount up front. SUH-WHEET!I am grateful for the evolution of orthodontics! One, I can remove the device when I want. Two, there are NO food restrictions. I can eat whatever foods I enjoy. Three, I can enjoy virtually invisible teeth-straightening. Four, I can brush & floss my teeth normally for better periodontal health. Five, there will be NO broken, sharp, metal wires to irritate my cheeks & gums. Finally, I was relieved to know I can travel b/c there will be office visits only every 4-6 weeks. I was advised to let the office know when I was traveling so extra trays could be taken w/me. So the crux of the matter is the evolution of orthodontics will make this round of advanced treatment much more enjoyable than the last round of a very rudimentary regimen.I look forward to working w/the office staff to ensure that once AGAIN I will have that 'million dollar' smile.
